Plumbing, Bathroom & Boiler Installation Services in Stoke Bishop
Stoke Bishop is in the northwest of Bristol and is an affluent and busy suburb with just under 10,000 inhabitants. Set between Westbury-on-Trym, Sea Mills and Clifton Down, most houses were built around the 1930s, though there is an eclectic range of property from other eras, including 1960s homes and ultra-modern bespoke design residences.
At its centre is Druids Hill, where its village hall is found, as well as a selection of local shops. It’s here that the area’s engaged community congregate. The name comes from the historical association of the area with druids after a monument was discovered near the hill in 1811. It is thought to be a derelict burial chamber.
Later, Druid Stoke House was built – now a grade II listed building – and following this, the suburb of Druid Stoke was set up in what was its grounds. Another stately home can be found in Stoke Bishop – Stoke House and Park, built in 1669 for Sir Robert Cann, once Member of Parliament and Mayor of Bristol.
It features a good primary school, Stoke Bishop C of E Primary – sometimes called Cedar Park – the church of St Mary Magdalene, and playing fields. There’s also Bristol Croquet Club near the school, a club of great renown.
